Sir,

I am directed to lay before you the attached copies of documents in support of a claim by lessrs. Wong

Van Twan, Wong Shau Hang, Chan Wu, and Chan Kau, for the return of certain money paid by them to the Compradore of your Consulate, according to the terms of an agreement which beurs the "chop" of your compradore department.

I am to draw your attention to the fact that documents bearing such a "chop" must be presumed to have been issued under your authority, and to request you to be good enough to remit the sum of $1500 to this office, for

repayment to the petitioners,
